Lights out now for good.
Inland far eastern Manatee County. Pretty good squall came
Thru. Winds up around 30-40 mph steady. Then lights out.
Rain now abating, 10 mins later. A little calmer. But I know what's coming...Irma cometh. . We'll start to feel her full force and fury about dark.

Further up #Florida ATL coast, there are at least a dozen offshore supercell-like couplets moving inland b/w #PortStLucie & #DaytonaBeach.

TWC reporting inside the Naples eye wall. Had this storm not weakened, all of those standing trees would be on the ground

The storm surge flooding in Miami today is a mere fraction of what would have happened if the core of #Irma had been farther east.

Looks to me gust around 90-100mph on the weather channel, amazing strength. Living in the UK, I think I've got a fairly good grip on what wind gusts look like, we get those gusts every couple of years I'd say and it looks around the top values we get here in the UK in the big winter storms.

Very impressive winds gusts being recorded, certainly justifies the cat-3 landfall.

Regardless it's still intense as Mike B has been going through and winds at his location of 95 mph with gusts to 135.

Yeah, last 1-2 mins probably even above my estimate of 90-100mph, very impressive wind burst every now and then coming through. Eye will be very close now to Naples and his position.

Naples is getting absolutely roasted, and that's from the weaker (west) eyewall...

North and South causeways are now closed in New Smyrna which indicates winds are getting above the safety limit.
Not too bad here though. Have had some decent gusts but nothing like Matthew yet.
