If you believe the 18Z GFS 10m wind analysis *inland* its primarily tropical storm force winds at 6 hours.
Got to be some cat 1 gusts in those rain squall bands though.

Wondering the same thing..... due N wouldn't be great for me either.

In the eyewall now! Amazing! Power still on! Comcast on! Bad but not terrifying. Definitely weaker than I expected.

But I think it's fair to say, judging from the minor damage in Naples via Jeff and others, the wind part of the storm was not even close to as severe as it could've been had Irma not scraped Cuba like it did. I'm not rooting for anyone to go outside, but compared to what it did in the Carribean, Florida did catch a big break. Surge? We'll see but even that doesn't seem to match with the severe predictions we saw. Rain seems to be a temporary problem as it gains forward speed and weakens. All that said, I do hope for minimal damage and hopefully no loss of life in Florida. I do think it's important for us to be less CONUS-centric and really think about/ send prayers out to the thousands of people in other places whose lives were upended by her pre-FL landfall.

Ummm, did you see the surge in the lower keys up to the. bottom of homes on stilts... There are many homes near ground level, Venture Out Community, that will be devistated and upended... That was a very uneducated comment from you!

I don't know blown. It was pretty fair - just maybe a bit early. You make out alright?

Any word from Reed Timmer and Mike Theiss?

Jim Edds reported in about 40 minutes ago from Big Pine Key. Last tweets from Timmer & Theiss about 10 hours ago in Key West.

Oh geez, the broadcast team on the NBC2 live coverage is squabbling over whether there will be significant storm surge or not.

When in doubt, expect the worst and hope for the best.

Not seeing any reports showing any of the 15ft storm-surge that was expected. There is slight coastal flooding but nothing as bad as predictions have been warning, so far.

Have there been credible reports about storm surge in Naples? I saw some anecdotal stuff like "Storm Surge Update in Naples 4 feet in 30 minutes" but nothing to back that up. Anyone got official info?

Storm surge on key west was between 1 and 2.5 feet? Is this for real?

Tampa is going to dodge a huge bullet in my opinion. I still think it will be strong enough for power outages, down trees and some storm surge, but not NEAR as it could have been.

4-5 ft storm surge just shown on NBC news in Everglades City, but nothing substantial from Naples yet.

Napals gauge has risen 8.5 feet from its lowest point although the actual surge is only around 4.25 feet. Data from below page (it has had issues loading at times so may take multiple attempts). The other 4.25 was from the "negative surge" that happened before the eye. Appears to still be rising, but much slower now than initially.

Please. All of you posters giving reports for your area, please state your geographical location. Many of us here are not aquainted with the immediate storm2k family, and know where you live. Us visitors would like to be able to connect reports to geographical locations too. Please just state it in your report, if your forum name doesn't make it plain.

I have my location on the right. Nothing but drizzle and breezes here and there now.
