Looks like she's going to making more of a west of north trend soon. Maybe reemerging near Cedar Key

Weagle on WPTV saying that the NHC needs to adjust their track. Says it's not going to Tampa (the center, that is). Threat for Orlando greatly increasing.

Was pretty intense here in south Orlando during that last band. Power flickered out a lot, lots of tree damage around my apartment that I can see without going outside, we still have power at the moment though. Gutters ripped off our building and are now on ground. Bracing ourselves for possible NE Eye Wall coming through.

I'm betting all those folks returning hurricane supplies a couple of days ago are already regretting it.

I feel like NHC is really dropping the ball right now by not updating the track.

We've already had numerous tornado warnings already issued by the NWS office in Jax from these rain bands moving on shore from the Atlantic especially across St. Johns and Flagler Counties in NE FL. I am not sure that any of these touched down.
Hi northjaxpro, enjoy your posts since they are 1) level headed and always seem rooted in good science and 2) somewhat applicable to Savannah...
Very interested in your thoughts...If Irma were to maintain it's northerly track...would NE Florida / SE Georgia benefit more from a weaker storm due to more time over land, or would we suffer more from a closer one?
As it stands now Savannah has been very calm...a few sprinkles, a couple of stiff breezes...
Hi GT Storm!! Great hearing from you and thanks for your kind words!! If Irma follows the UKMET model track, which is east of the NHC projected track, Savannah will see an increase in some rain and wind. The NHC track turnsa weakened Irma N/NW over North Central Florida, then up into western GA into Alabama. The NHC projected track, if it verifies, would indeed not give much weather to the Savannah area because Irma would be moving away from them.
Thanks...expectation from forecasts based on the current NHC track is decent tropical storm force winds through early afternoon tomorrow with 4-6 inches of rain. I would think with a more northerly component we'd actually get a little worse than that, even though the overall structure of the storm would weaken sooner.
Regardless, we are prepared...hope JAX hasn't gotten it too bad

It's nasty here in Downtown Orlando right now. Here and see the transformers blowing everywhere. Imagine the flooding has to be bad. The rain is intense.

Welp. I'm pretty terrified right now. The tone of the met on news 13 is not good. They also just got verification that Irma is on a due north heading. I'm mentally preparing for the dirty side of the storm here in Seminole county. Me, my mother, my sister and three kids are hunkered in our center hallway with a matress to throw over if we need to. Kids have bike helmets. I'm praying to god this roof holds.
I have family near Redbug that has partial roof collapse happening now. And we have miles to go.

Hello everyone,
Haven't posted anything today just been observing as a weather enthusiast but I'm located down at World Golf in st Augustine. Still have power right now, knock on wood, but winds are highest ever right now of today.
Looking st radar we still have more to come and probaby even stronger winds based on what I see as movement now of Irma.

Didn't you just have a tornado go through the WGV?

Large band in Orlando area is training moisture from its origins offshore and south of Miami.

Radar picked up rotation but nothing touched down and nothing in our neighborhood. I kept looking for transformers blowing but didn't see anything.

Getting absolutely pounded in Pinellas. Just heard a transformer blow and saw several others blow. Power is down at many places. Where my son is staying he said large branch came down on a wire.

Re: ATL: IRMA - Hurricane - Discussion
I read someone mentioning low storm surge in some areas. Keep in mind it will be delayed, winds just now coming around in Ft Meyers, so stay vigilant if you're in that area. Hopefully due to the track change the surge will be less than forecast.
