not sure this is 55 kts this morning based upon the microwave

https://www.nrlmry.navy.mil/tc-bin/tc_h ... =composite

looks more like the signature of a 45 kt storm to me. However, it is well on its way to becoming a cane before reaching the islands

And the outlook for Puerto Rico, where cycloneye is, looks even worse: major hurricane traversing the entire breadth of the island!

Praying for you guys.

Thanks my friend, i appreciate sincerely :) :) :) , i will keep your informed anytime if i can! Keeping our fingers crossed too but looks like Maria want to cross the Lesser Antilles step by step. I do not let my guard down, hope that the others like Cycloneye are prepared ! God blessed!

We will have recon in there hopefully finding small wind fields.
Looking at the water vapor imagery there is an ULL to the west of Maria pacing along ahead of her.
ULL will probably roll SSW a little under the ridge centered off Texas which is probably what the Euro is modeling. If the ULL stalls and Maria catches up with it, there is more northerly steering with increased shear on the western periphery.

The ULL is currently ventilating Maria as it has been the last couple days and Maria looks to be overcoming the light shear.

From Miami NWS... I checked MLB, Tampa, and Keywest and no notable mentions yet.

LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...

The long term period will continue to see anomalously dry air
lingering across the region through midweek, before increasing
tropical moisture returns rounding out the work week. Generally dry
weather will prevail outside of a few isolated showers and
thunderstorms on Wednesday. Shower and thunderstorm coverage will
be more scattered in nature starting Thursday as the flow turns
more easterly resulting in a typical summertime pattern.
Temperatures will be near to slightly above normal.

Heading towards the weekend, attention shifts towards Tropical
Storm Maria, which is currently forecast by the National Hurricane
Center to move towards the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico by the
middle of the week.

It is too early to tell what if any impacts Maria may bring to
South Florida. There remains considerable uncertainty with what
will eventually happen with Maria. Continue to monitor the
National Hurricane Center for the latest regarding Tropical Storm
Maria.

With Irma fresh in our minds, it is a good idea to continue
remaining vigilant and prepared, and to review hurricane plans as
we continue to remain in the middle of hurricane season.

Myself and Belize has you all in the islands already impacted by Irma in our prayers today and through next week. I saw footage in virgin islands this week where regular rain storm created a flood river through main road, so no matter how weak a hurricane Maria is she will still be devastating when your infrastructures is already compromised. We are watching & praying for the best, you are not alone, Keep as safe as you can.

Maria is quite a big system which may slow intensification a little bit. Nevertheless, everything is improving on satellite. Strengthening storm for sure. Loop: https://weather.us/satellite/572-w-160-n/top-alert-superhd-15min.html#play

Been watching AMSU core profile.
Seems there was a strong boundary-layer inversion overnight inhibiting convection.
Looks like it is breaking up now.
Maria could start to crank when recon gets in.

Honestly, I feel structure may have taken a step back from where it was 12-15 hours ago.

Looks like low level center may be scooting out under convection on latest loop? Any slow down in intensification is good news for islands.

Would the slowdown the NHC mentions allow Jose to depart the scene with less influence on Maria feeling a weakness?
Anybody else think this could be a big development down the road?
