What is the estimated time that we will get recon back from the plane?

Likely about 30-40 minutes. Probably will then be a Special Advisory.

Don't blame them, since there is Recon near.

Appears as though Maria's west side is already feeling the effects of Dominica's mountains.

The more I look at satellite, the more I wouldn't be surprised if this has dropped 6 mb/hr since recon left. That would put it in the 927 mb range. Wilma did 54 mb in 6 hours (9 mb/hr).

Hard to get a more clear-cut DT of 7.0 than this.

Tom from cbs 6 said this will be over 300 miles off the coast of Florida. Not a threat to FL or US.

A small island like that will have little to no effects on Maria.

Definately appears to be the start of a ERC cycle.

I'd say that is close to T7.5.

Have seen much on the UKMET, how is it tracking compared to the other models so far?

For a large hurricane, no, but Maria has quite a small core and it will be quite interesting (from a scientific perspective) seeing how Dominica influences Maria.

WOW!! I look at the satellite presentation with just complete astonishment. Maria is just plain and simple about as classical, textbook in appearance as you can have with a tropical cyclone. Perfect symmetry and that pinhole eye!! This is a Cat 5 imo.

The pinhole eye reminds me of Glibert

NEVER, EVER SAY NEVER in the tropics and weather in general, and most importantly, with life itself!!
