All eyes on Dominica but Guadeloupe should already be getting hammered pretty good.

Im glad there is a good MET not writing it off... people need to realize things are likely to change quite a bit.

yeah if this nnw /nw wobble continues too much longer the SW coast of Guadeloupe might get part of the inner eyewall.. nor sure the population there .. but not good either way.

Crazy! With this image of the hurricane's eye in the middle of Dominica, it actually looks like Dominica itself is a human eye.

Right as i'm from Guadeloupe. We are really worrying here, winds have picking up nicely in many areas of Guadeloupe. We're waiting for huge rainfall amounts of 200 milimeters, waves up to 10 meters, very strongs winds of 110 kts in the southern side of the islands... busy night and hours... Keeping our fingers crossed.

I wonder what the record is for intensification in, say, a 5 hour period?

(Edit: "Intensification to Cat 5")

Forrest '83 and Wilma '05 may be the best starting points. Storms like Felix '07, Genevieve '14, and the preliminary data for Noru '17 may also be worth a look.

Should also probably throw Ida '58 and Irma '71 in there too.

With the wobble NW more of the island is seeing the eyewall... not good. I’m concerned about what may happen in PR too. I hope they’re prepared.

It's moving NW so Guadeloupe needs to be prepared!

Insane image. Do not like this exit of Dominica in a NNW motion bringing very bad conditions on the SW side of Guadeloupe near les Saintes and close to the localitu of Basse-Terre meaning very strong winds if Maria stay on that track. Crucial hours of us before the arrival Maria maybe near 2 or 3 AM tommorow...

Wow, 2 category 5's sweeping through the islands in one season. I heard Somebody saying we need a "Marshall Plan" to rebuild the islands...after this, I imagine that's about right. I mean most if the islands spared by irma's northern track are getting hit now. St croix was spared and looks to be hit hard, as does purto rico. Thankfully maria is much tighter and weaker than irma, but a 5 is a 5! Keeping everyone down there in my thoughts...hang in there!
