I'm not sure where this front is expected to come from, but the Ohio Valley is still forecast to be in the upper 80s by then.

I've been tied up but wanted to express my prayers that God comforts and helps heal the devastation on all the people of all these islands.

Should probably send in the Marines and activate the National Guard and lots of food. There will not be any order after this...Police are unlikely to show up to work because there families wont have food and it will be a frenzy for criminals and people just desperate for resources. The destruction I am seeing in biblical and on par with what happened to barbuda.

All power is out. Most of the Roofs are gone. North side of the island has extreme flooding and where maria made landfall is a wasteland. The far southwestern portion of the island is probably relatively unscathed minus power outage and some minor wind damage. Somehow we are getting images of immense destruction still (I suspect some towers are still up on generators for how long who knows).

We also do not know the status arecibo antenna

We rarely see Cat 2 and Cat 3 winds hit major metro areas with high rise buildings. The buildings stay structurally sound but some unlucky had their units in San Juan explode.

Building behind Hardrock looks completely wiped out/collapsed.

She's down to Cat 2 now. But the pressure has fallen 4 MB since the 2 PM advisory, to 957.

This is probably what miami beach and downtown miami would look like in a Cat 3 direct hit.

This is a critical time for this storm, as it starts to regain shape over water be on the lookout for any wobbles...these could impact how it interacts with weather patterns over North America.

I agree with sending in troops for order. We should also go ahead a buy PR a new power grid as a gift. No point in rebuilding that mess.

Her core has remained remarkably intact and quick strengthening is forecast, how much she strengthens is up to the shear ahead of her though. Maria's convection remains very deep, with a much larger eye closing up now.

Fascinating and delicate steering pattern on the ECMWF. Main jet well N, weak disturbance in the SE (like Irma), Jose remnants and blocking ML high trying to connect with WAR. So many fragile interactions that will determine the fate of Maria. Link to the data: https://weather.us/model-charts/euro/799-w-396-n/wind-300mb/20170925-0000z.html

Governor confirms the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, with a population of over 3 million, is left completely in the dark.

That is incredible structure for a storm that just went over Puerto Rico.
