Been trying to figure out an analog to this storm for Mississippi with respect to surge. It really hasn't had a lot of cat 1 hits from the south with RFQ. Camille, Katrina obviously created huge surge. Elena and Frederic were stronger but Fred was the Far East side of Jackson Co, and Elena came at a funny angle. Neither caused great surge. George's was a large cat 2 and caused major surge in Jackson county so probably this won't be as bad a Georges ....it also moved slow. 1947 was a bad surge in Jackson county. Ethel in 1960 wasn't a bad surg and came in weak. 1906 hurricane was bad surge as well. My best bet is surge will end up lower than Georges. But higher than Ethel. So about 7-8 ft in Harrison and maybe 6-7 thru Jackson county (assuming a landfall closer to Gulfport). If it hits closer to ocean springs there are very vulnerable areas of east Jackson county and south mobile that could easily see 10-11.

Every case of a south to north moving storm, even weakening ones have produced significant surge tho. Mississippi is just that vulnerable.
