Looks like there are almost major hurricane-force winds occurring at exposed coastal locations: Fastnet Lighthouse recorded a 10-minute windspeed of 82 kt (94 mph) gusting to 103 kt (119 mph). 84 knots is the threshold for 10-minute Cat 3 winds. However, I don't think this is an official weather station.

The highest official value seems to be 60 kt (69 mph) gusting to 84 kt (97 mph) at Roches Point:

I thought there'd be some 100kt gusts and indeed there appear to be some!

That station may be elevated though, but if it is legit that supports at least 90 kt for the intensity. I think it is probably overdone though (I'd set it at 80 kt).

This is due to the Saharian dust and the Iberian wildfire's smoke. The dust came out from Africa in larger amount on 13-14 October (the sat. picture is from 14 October) while the fires broke out yesterday before the cold front reached that area.
Now both have very high concentration along the cold front over Great Britain (the greyish stripe on the bottom satellite image).

Not really much wind in the SE of England, but I can confirm the sky went the most amazing deep orange colour in the afternoon. Around 2.30pm the sky went ultra dark and orange for about 30 minutes. Probably one of the most impressive colours I've seen. The sky then slowly shifted to an off pink then back to normal by 5pm.
