As that band pushes through DFW it may give a few sprinkles but most will evaporate before reaching ground, and we should see temps drop a few degrees with that 2nd surged of cold air. Won't be surprised to see low line areas in the immediate DFW area hit 32 for a short time early Saturday morning.

If we can keep temps below 60 it will be good company. Some recent years when October had a day in the 50s (not as common as you think) 2002, 2009, 2012, and 2013. Those years feature pretty active winters frozen precip wise. It's also not that common to get into the 30s either, which we may achieve. I don't know about tonight for the urban areas unless winds die down. Even further back you're talking 1958, 1989, 1991, 1993, 2000 with some more examples. Nearly all of these years had cold, wintry Decembers.

Hanging out on an off day and I noticed some light rain falling so I went outside to try to find some melting sleet pellets. Didn't find any.

I'm a bit further north closer to 114 and beltline. It's now a rain/sleet mix but very light. It was bouncing off things a few mins ago

What a shame none of the sleet will accumulate. Ah well. Sleet falling is better than no sleet

Re: Texas Fall 2017
The Euro end of it's run swings down the W coast a big upper SW trough with cold air sinking from the N Plains. Real or not I'd watch Typhoon Saola. Not much of a typhoon but will bomb out as an extra-tropical system.

Re: Texas Fall 2017
Temps have dropped into the mid and upper 40's behind the precip line, and DFW has dropped from 55 to 48 over the last hour. Currently it's 46 with a few sprinkles here @ work in DT FTW.

Pretty good sleet shower now. Pellets are fairly larger than earlier. You eastplexers should be on the lookout soon

Re: Texas Fall 2017
Waiting in line at school to get little GPsnowdaughter and sleet is bouncing off my car. Very bizarre. The earliest I have ever seen frozen precip living in DFW. October 1993 sleet fell later in the month. November 2009 I witnessed sleet at Target. We all know how that awesome winter turned out.

Re: Texas Fall 2017
The NWS apparently cannot bring themselves to put slett in their forecasts even as it is occurring throughout their area. Not that it matters because nothing will stick, but still why not now cast it at the least. These post frontal systems can sure bring some surprises as not near as much moisture is required for precip in cold air. It is cold and saturated a few thousand feet up.
