6-8" of rain for DFW on this run... The Midwest is absolutely crushed by snow and DFW picks up a few inches.

ETA: Temps in the teens result in ice flows across DFW after flooding rains lol

Not necessarily, it has started trending back towards a colder Christmas for portions of Texas. Based on the wild model swings at H5 over the past day or so, it isn't unrealistic to think that things could continue to trend colder with more winter wx.

Friday/Saturday/Sunday(Christmas Eve) all trended colder so we're going the right direction

And the snow on Christmas Eve falls with temps in the 20s. Even if it is only .5 - 1" it would be nice not having to wait for change over from rain lol

There really hasn't been much of a trend since about Friday night. The past 24-48 hours of runs have been mood swings. What is consistent is cold is still coming. That's never changed besides intensity. We've seen super cold, near 80, dry and cold, dry and warm, snow, ice, floods, deers, goats, sheep you name it they got it!

0zGFS Control Run is way more aggressive with winter weather....has a mix bag in North Texas by Christmas Eve moving to Deep South Texas by Christmas Night. Basically the whole state gets in the action.

True, very true  The models are insane right now.. I think “trend” was the wrong word to use lol. I guess what i could say is that i hope this run is the start of a good trend for those of us who want snow

Generally, some guidance seem to be shifting back at maybe some arctic front mischief Christmas Eve/Day. The earlier storm 22-23rd they brought back but lashes Wisconsin and Michigan

Several GFS Ensemble members indicate that a large part of the state will have a winter weather threat sometime over the next 10-14 days.

0zGFS Control Run "Merry Christmas!!!" :froze: just goes to show you that this pattern has some potential.

In other news, DFW only had a high of 53F today which is slightly below normal. Forecast and models had us brushing 60s, above normal. Socked in clouds next few days so may end up low side with highs. For once we take the under vs the over! Small wins at a time..
