:uarrow: yeah NDG even the 06Z is brutal for Florida with 20s deep into Central Florida but the run is a few degrees warmer than the 00Z. My guess is that the GFS is way too cold but we will see. Sure has been consistent with the Central Florida freeze idea.

What is mind boggling is the difference in their solutions between the two, the Euro doesn't even have freezing temps for lows next Tuesday morning for northern FL while the GFS has lows in the teens for that same area.
My guess is that both are on extremes and both will start trending to each other, is usually the outcome.

Well the 12Z GFS and CMC are out. The CMC has now joined the GFS with brutal cold for Florida. The GFS is not backing down from the deep Florida freeze. Let’s see if the Euro joins these models. If the GFS is right, could be the coldest temps since 2010.

My prediction my friends:

GFS will be right!! GFS has been very persistent and consistent showing the Arctic blast coming for the Central and Eastern CONUS for nearly a week now. We already see the CMC caving in to the GFS. Look for the EURO to do the same.

We are in for quite a cold snap next week....

I think the GFS will come up big in this instance though. I may eat crow later, but my gut instincts are telling me GFS will be right.

I sure hope the cold air reaches South Florida because I'm tired of my car thermometer being over 80 degrees. I will road trip to Jacksonville to see snow it's only 4 1/2 drive from Boca Raton.

Like I said before the GFS is a joke beyond 5 days, not saying the Euro is completely better though, it too had shown extreme cold penetrating down the peninsula for several runs in a row with this mornings 00z run really backing off.

It was also very persistent too for awhile with showing extremely cold temperatures in its medium-long range with December’s week of cooler weather only to back away slowly but surely. It will likely come to its senses this time too.

12z Euro so far is not trending at all towards the GFS & CMC, it is staying very persistent on its solution.

If anything it penetrates the cold south into the Western Atlantic east of Florida.

It would be an epic event if the Euro is so wrong on its forecast just 5 days from now, not that we have never seen the GFS & CMC do that before.

BTW, I know I am sticking my neck out there big time going with the GFS. However, I have stuck my neck out there big time on this forum in the past. I did so about Joaquin days before it spun up and I ended up being right that system would develop. Little did we would later see it become a major hurricane.

Sometimes you roll the dice and see how it comes up. Also, sooner or later, the time is going to finally come when an arctic outbreak will impact the peninsula. We have been extremely lucky escaping these cold spells since 2010. It is law of averages at some point it is going to happen. Heck, it took 11 years to see the hurricane-less impact streak finally end over the state last year with Hermine

We will know soon how it shakes down....

Let's see if the GFS sticks to its guns, I'm expecting the GFS to back off by tomorrow, but I'm hoping it's correct because I'm a fan of cold weather.

Latest CPC 6-10 day Temperature Outlook no longer has South Florida in the blue. In fact the 8-14 day Outlook has all of Florida left out of the blue likely meaning the GFS is totally wrong with its idea.

I like the colder weather too but I just don’t see it happening with the NAO refusing to go negative and the AO barely going negative.

I agree with storm expert the NAO is positive which means cold air will head east not south and bypass at least South Florida. The GFS will correct itself I feel starting by tomorrow.

18Z GFS has snow in the NE Gulf! Looks like it is coming in couple of degrees warmer than the 12Z but near 30F for a Tampa (coldest low) with a widespread freeze for Central and interior South Florida:
