The 12z Euro looks similar to the Canadian now, showing a descent size swath of mix precipitation in south central Texas with snow in the Hill country and moving almost into Southeast Texas fwiw interesting considering it was bone dry the last 2 runs.

I don't see anything on the 12z euro. The very light qpf is out in the gulf of MX

I see it now, I was looking at Tuesday when the storm rolls through. The stuff in S Texas on Monday seems to be from the southern stream STJ, not the actual storm. Similar bunch that might give Dallas stuff as the front passes.

A little light wintry mix across NW Harris County as well. More of a novelty than anything.

12z Euro has another big system waiting behind the 1st one. In fact, another behind the one after, just lined up.

The op run doesn’t show much cold air in that timeframe, but I guess the ensembles show some cold air?

Just got back form Houston seeing my nephew from Atlanta and the I-10 traffic billboards between Weimar and Houston stated preparation for Ice. Also, I saw a convoy of TDOT trucks with fluid tanks in the dumps headed west with DPS.

Plenty of cold air to tap into across the north, just depends on how deep the UL Energy digs across the southern plains...don't need crazy anomalously cold air for winter weather this time of year

As some others on this thread have shared from their locales in Texas ... temp bust today as morning forecasts (and more reputable short range models) progged Austin for highs in the low 50s. Well, low clouds held court and here we are near 3 pm in the mid to upper 40s around Travis County.

Sometimes the models cannot even get it right within 12 hours. Weather. :P

BTW, a more detailed look at the 12z Euro shows increased amounts of qpf in the frozen category for areas like San Marcos down to San Antonio as compared to what the 0z run showed. Would be enough to create some problems for sure. Looks like light freezing rain/drizzle but maybe as much as .10-.15" worth. Lighter amounts in Austin.

In parallel with this, I think I understand what HM was saying in his tweet about PNAs lining up one after the other just like the 80s. He was referring to where the ridge would pop up, dissipate and reload. Best example I can think of was the beginning of 85 where we had a series of super outbreaks.
