SNOW FLURRIES HERE IN NW AUSTIN!!!!!! PORTA!!! Is That You!????

Well, if that little band to our north holds and keeps moving south, we may see a quick dusting of light snow before 11 pm. Wouldn’t that be something?!

The line is backbuilding too!!!! But Porta, will we dry out? I see the moisture pouring in from the Pacific and the NW...I want more tonight & tomorrow!!!

Leander Police said Ronald Reagan was reopened a short time later and the roadway was being sanded.

Very sorry to hear. This just goes to show that regardless of how much or what type of precip is falling, everyone who's on the roads or is planning to be should take extra care and slow down. Does not take much to cause problems.

26F balmy degrees at DFW airport this New Year's Eve night. Euro runs a week ago barely with even a freeze . Been 20s most of today no less!

Some mischief in central Texas this evening maybe a quick dusting then far S Texas later. Here's to hoping for a blockbuster snowstorm in the coming weeks to kick off 2018 as we leave 2017 on a cold note!

Didn't the models predict sunshine in DFW at least part of the day today ?

No sunshine... so the temperature decreased during the day.

Question... with cloud cover will the temperature get as cold overnight as predicted ??

Cold up here in Justin. Currently at 22*. Drove from Downtown Ft Worth to Justin this morning, and took us 2 hours. Normally a 30 minute drive. Happy New Year to all of you and hoping for a snowy 2018!! We still have a few months.

Was the precip quite a bit worse in Fort Worth than in Dallas? We had a light glaze on vehicles and nothing much else... No traffic issues here in this side of DFW.

Just thinking last night they did go below freezing a lot earlier the freeze line was bisecting the metro SW-NE around the airport for hours so yeah it probably was worse

Tonight's cooling will not be radiative, meaning a clear sky is not necessary. There is strong advective cooling (horizontal movement of cold air). Advective cooling will be plenty to make it darn cold tomorrow morning.

It's seemingly always worse on Fort Worth's side when we get frozen precip of any kind. Dallas has a lot more cars and urban density so harder to freeze roads etc.
