Any chance that we see a repeat of the frozen precipitation tomorrow in the Austin area? Seems like we squeezed more than anticipated out of this tonight.

I can certify some light snowfall (no visible accumulations yet) down here in Southwest Austin! Lovely that we're seeing snow twice in a month; that usually doesn't happen here in the freezing drizzle capital of the world.

It's snowing now. Tiny flakes, nothing like the last snow we had.

For the second time in less than a month, snow is falling at the Portastorm Weather Center!

This is ... unspeakable ... the apocalypse must be near.

I wondered about that earlier elsewhere when the snow band was approaching

I told you that I would take care of you this winter. Still trying to get a bit more snow up there in the DFW area through. All I could muster by the end of the year was a dusting. Still a not-so-cold 43 here in SW Houston. Very dry air is flowing into central TX now, shutting down the precip. Looks dry all week, but cold.

But WxMan57, the WV looks to being increasing the moisture levels? Is the upper air column drying out from the north?

Just looking at the goes16 WV upper, mid and lower levels, it appears to be some moisture there and increasing as it moves from west to east across Texas. What do you see with that?

Happy New Year everyone! Glad some across the Austin area and central TX saw some surprise snow last night. What a month of December it was!

Taking a look at the current radar, an area of sleet across west TX is heading east. Wonder if the disturbance is slightly stronger than models indicated.

Not bad if you add 10 to 20 degrees to its predicted temperatures. 26 near Miami?

A little too warm in Houston for wxman57 our new resident snow miser. Shorts weather. Mouth watering temperatures for him up in Montana! He is dreaming of -33 degrees

Just to let you all know how impressive this cold arctic outbreak is across the country, we will be in the Deep Freeze all week long as well in Floroda peninsula
The BIG story potentially may be the intensifying coastal winter storm which may bring accumulating snowfall potential from Northeast Florida north to along the Southeast U.S. and up to the Mid-Atlantic coast.beginning on Wednesday .

Cold rainy and 37.4.degrees at my North Jax, FL home station currently. We may be holding steady in the upper 30s all day today, given the clouds and rain and strong cold air advection.

Yeah, you know it. I'm quite disappointed, still a balmy 32 degrees at my house. The Houston Bike Club's annual New Year's day ride starts shortly. It's shorts, a sleeveless jersey, and a Camelbak (too keep cool) for me on the ride. Hope I don't overheat.
