Yeah, you know it. I'm quite disappointed, still a balmy 32 degrees at my house. The Houston Bike Club's annual New Year's day ride starts shortly. It's shorts, a sleeveless jersey, and a Camelbak (too keep cool) for me on the ride. Hope I don't overheat.

I've been a lurker here for many years and usually don't post, but had to tell you that you have been such a good sport about this winter thing. I love it.

Surface pressure is 1042.1 at Georgetown. 30.74" and still rising.

For us pilots, that's shockingly close to unflyable due to altimeter errors. They're not made for this high a pressure! Wow.

Looks as if the radar is fillling in along Tex mex border. Could this be a heavier sleet event than forcasted??

I have no idea what you're talking about. I LIVE for cold and icy conditions! It's 33 at my house now and I have the AC on full-blast trying to cool the house down. Hope the colder air gets here soon.

By the way, I grew up in Lafayette from the late '50s through the '70s. Lived at 213 Stephanie Ave in Bendel Gardens.

Some crazy stuff from FWD this morning - the last record low at DFW was in July of '14, it has been 30 years since a record low in January and, to top it all off, '17 was the warmest year ever at DFW.

HRRR is showing "rain" in 10 hours for SE Tx, south of I-10. Looked at the sounding, it would def be snow. Surface temps at 34.

Sleeting in San Antonio. Can't believe SA and Austin have seen 2 winter weather events in the past month. What a great start to 2018!

Snow falling at 10,000 ft across NW Harris County as virga. Cloud bases are getting darker to my West with heavier snow showers aloft. Could see a stray sleet pellet or two as the day wears on.

Happy New Year fellow Storm2kers. A lovely sunny day currently with a 21 degree reading. I always enjoy a sunny day with highs below freezing. Very rare, this is some air mass!!! Hopefully we are still on track for another arctic dump in 10 days or so. DFW needs a blizzard darn it!!!

Looks like the atmosphere is cooling enough for some sleet judging by the radar returns in the western valley.

Awesome. I appreciate it. So seems to me that the upper level is feeding more then expected. Do you see anything that may say other wise. Especially colder then what was forecasted here for our area
