Re: Texas Winter 2017-2018
Light drizzle here at work in southeast Austin off 290 and Parmer. I'll be here till about 1 a.m. It is not frozen on my car yet but I just drove it 1.5 hours ago. Lifted my windshield wipers anyway. Though I think I shoulda left them down in case the arms freeze solid in the bent position.

Re: Texas Winter 2017-2018
It only took a few hours of some light freezing drizzle and now we have accidents galore in the Austin metro area! Hey, we're not the Freezing Drizzle Capital of Texas for nothing you know?!
But more seriously, our general area is under a Winter Weather Advisory until 7 pm. No surprise. Freezing drizzle continues at the Portastorm Weather Center as well.

Notice how dewpoints in the Austin metro have come up to the temp compared to the 15 degree deviations further up north along I-14.

I really hope it changes over to snow soon. We don't want any ice...

I’m North Austin right now and not much showing on radar but it’s definitely still drizzling out there.

I've noticed that the clouds have gotten pretty thick and dark. Some hanging down a bit too.

It was a bit surprising to me that the WWA was only issued until 7 pm.

I hope this isn't another event where the precip just turns out to be freezing drizzle instead of light snow like the models indicate. Remember that happened a few years ago as well. Not fun.

NWS anticipates that the freezing drizzle will end by that time. Granted the ice which has accumulated won't be going anywhere this evening but I think we are supposed to clear out, cloud-wise, overnight. Given that and drying conditions and minimal precip falling, the process of sublimation will probably make us ice free by tomorrow morning.
