Interesting, b/w the bands of snow it shows sleet, so the QPF field is a bit more smoothed out than what it is showing for snow.

Yep and there’s way more people on this board from NTX and the DFW area than any other part of the state.

As much as DFW folks don't want to admit it, novelty snow is nice but that bar is too low. Folks get excited up here with a real snowstorm that's more than flurries. At the beginning of the season it's better but the deeper you go the higher the standard it seems.

Perhaps it will pick up a bit after the evening news. For public facing mediums this is still a fairly new revelation, maybe the word isn't with the Gen Pop yet.

Of course I may not be up to find out. Gotta get some shut eye in case it comes in stronger and longer tomorrow night...


edit: 50 guests at 9:59 for reference. Let's see if news makes a difference for Storm2K'ers or if they are already following and just not interested in flurries to a dusting to an inch (or whatever). I'll take that at this point over micro flurries any day.

Yeah, still optimistic due to the mess in the North Pacific...hopefully, the Western Canadian ridge is stronger than currently modeled

0z GFS kinda looks interesting for South Central and Southeast Texas with a coastal trough producing moisture with temps in the mid 30s, 18z looked similar also.

IMHO, the beginning of the run was a positive even if it the end result wasn't a winter storm for Texas. Still plenty of time to get this turned around.

Dang it, I am watching channel 5 weather right now and they just showed that band that is supposed to move through tomorrow and it goes away right before it gets to my area...story of my life lol

Channel 5 and 8 had almost identical maps as it approached DFW and at 7:00Pm as its falling apart. "Fortunately" where I live shows snow at 7 PM but we know those maps will change. Interesting on how close they were (based on just memory, no objective comparison)

I am near Greenville and it was gone quick before it came near us lol. At least that is how it looked to me.

This sort of scenario has produced isolated heavy snow in the past, usually NW of DFW proper, wherever convective bands set up. I would go with with a general half inch for DFW. North of DFW maybe a general inch with a spot or two getting 3 to 5 inches.
