At 1013 PM CST, a confirmed large and extremely dangerous tornado was
located near Poseyville, or 16 miles west of Fort Branch, moving east
at 45 mph.

This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. TAKE COVER NOW!

HAZARD...Damaging tornado.

SOURCE...Radar confirmed tornado. If you are travelling along
Interstate 64 from exits 4 through 12, the tornado is
headed for this part of the highway. This is a life
threatening situation.

IMPACT...You are in a life-threatening situation. Flying debris may
be deadly to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes
will be destroyed. Considerable damage to homes,
businesses, and vehicles is likely and complete destruction
is possible.

The tornado will be near...
Poseyville around 1020 PM CST.
Cynthiana around 1025 PM CST.
Owensville around 1030 PM CST.
Fort Branch and Haubstadt around 1035 PM CST.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include

Chicago issued more tornado warnings than winter storm warnings in February...

and I think that about sums up this winter.

All posts past midnight not relating to reanalysis or summaries of the winter will be moved to the spring thread (assuming no immediate winter threats).

Overall most outlets including the CPC predicted an overall warmer than normal winter with bouts of cold and front loaded winter (if you can call it that, at least what there was) with sharp, quick cold hit. Typical with your Nina climo, few if any predicted warmest winter or top warmest ever for many outside the west. So I would give most a decent grade. One notable forecast bust has been at weatherbell. I'm not trying to put blame, but many here use that as a reasonable resource. JB and his team predicted a neutral to below normal in most of the country north of I-40 and east of the divide and warm towards the southwest, near normal in Texas. Also predicted a second half heavy winter which was actually the opposite, I'd have to give it a low grade. Hopefully going forward to next winter we will see a 2009-2010 repeat and all will be forgiven

Well, a few more minutes to go before Ntxw sweeps the floor, turns out the lights, locks the place up and puts the "Gone to the Spring Weather Thread" sign out.

Obviously, this wasn't the winter we wanted.

Personally, I can't complain too terribly much here along the Red River with the early January snow and single digit cold.

But I am very disappointed for the rest of us here in Texas. And especially you Portastorm.

We'll get 'em next winter gang.

Until next winter, dream of big snows, bowling ball winter storms and McFarland Signatures.

Don't know if this information should be posted here or not. Even with it being a warm winter, certain parts of Texas seemed to fair better than others. I was curious so I went to DATAnow Climatological data page on NOAA and counted the number of freezes from December through the end of February for the Wichita Falls area. From what the data is saying for this area; December had 17 freezes, January had 16 and February had 6. That really doesn't seem too bad despite the warmer than usual winter. I think what made it feel worse is how hot it got in between cold or cool periods.
