Mixture of graupel and sleet here. Graupel can be a sign of rapidly increasing lift.

No they didnt. Dont remember what it predicted for them, but a band set up in the hill country that drifted towards CS and strengthened.

The front has just passed the Rain Cave a few min ago. Wind has picked up and temp is dropping

Initial temperature drop over the last 45 minutes was about 20 degrees here. The rate has slowed; I'm assuming the remaining cold air will slowly spill in over the next few hours.

Looks like you're getting some moderate rain as well. I sense the Rain Miser is quite happy right now

I think DFW has a big band/the radar is about to light up big time. 700MB front is crossing Red River now. Why is it not snowing in OK? Below the 700MB layer its extremely dry. Only a thin layer is saturated. When this crosses the area, i think it will be party time for you guys.

Scott Fisher on Fox in Austin says only .04 of ice in Georgetown and .06 in Austin. Then not even quarter inch of snow. That will make things slippery but those totals seem low. Is that what most everyone is expecting for our area now?

Great analysis! Everything should congeal as that front nears. Right now it's like spotty thunderstorms ahead of a cold front

Actually the HRRR sniffed out Mesoscale Banding about 4 to 6 hours prior to the snowfall beginning.

Radar is lighting up nicely for you guys in DFW and it continues to back build to the west. I’m rooting for a surprise!

I think it’s snowing everywhere but my house :( I’ve had several reports of snow here in Texarkana and our daughter is sending us pictures of her solid white yard, but it is pouring rain at my house. There is a thin layer of sleet on the picnic table, but not much else. Is the rain going to use up all of the moisture so we won’t have snow?

Ok the whining was just for fun. We will get our snow. We are pretty far east Texarkana and very rural so we are sometimes a bit behind.

Seriously this is a lot of rain though. How does that impact snow sticking when the temperature is about 35*? Will it melt into the rain water until we get below freezing? Seems pretty wasteful to me
