Well I have seen basically nada with the other WWAs so 15 minutes of moderate sleet was better than that.

The issue for N. Texas is that for areas N and W of I30 the avg. snowfall is about 3" and we are going on years without anything significant. It gets old, snow in N. Texas up into Oklahoma isn't nearly as much of a novelty as it for areas to the S., even Dallas proper gets significantly less snow on avg. than the northern burbs.

NBC 5 has live shot of Woodall Rodgers and yes, they got some decent accumulation on the highways. Very little here in Irving.

So, thats two "winter" events in a row the NAM has done well with. Although it lost it during the last day or so, a couple days ago the NAM was set on showing a small but potent area of precip moving across DFW around 10am today. Yesterday's 12z RGEM saw it too, while the rest of the mesoscale models really didnt pick it up.

Was a fun little event here in immediate Dallas though. About 20 minutes of heavy sleet. The roofs are covered, grass and elevated areas have turned faintly white and some of the secondary roads have gotten a little slushy. This will probably all melt in the next hour or so, but it was nice to look at.

Weather pattern still looks quite active across much of TX over the next few weeks with several disturbances digging into the SW US. 12z GFS Ensemble mean has widespread 2+ inch rainfall amounts across the eastern half of the state over the next 2 weeks.

Also, nearly all the 12z GEFS members show some form of winter storm across the Southern Plains over the next week to 10 days. Hopefully, we will start to get a better picture of our chances over the next few days.

Brief rain/sleet mix for a few minutes down in Southwest Austin with a particularly strong cell. Think the dryness at the lower levels undercut the higher reflectivities but some of it did make it to ground. A few rumbles of thunder to go along with the wintry mix festivities as well.

Porta & JDawg, there was a magical BURST of snowflakes in the THUNDERSLEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crazy!!!! I reported it to the NWS.

The Euro is rapidly reconsolidating the TPV over northern Hudson Bay and it is shearing out the cutoff into a mostly dry positive tilted trough... Where have we seen that before?
