Re: Texas Spring 2018
One very noticeable difference from last Friday is that surface winds are kicking! At least here in Collin County, there is some backing of winds.

Had to drop off trash and that storm just north of me in Haslet looked mean.

Re: Texas Spring 2018
Hopefully as severe weather season progresses, we can get some storms or moisture out this way. Very windy and a mild dust storm up here today.

Re: Texas Spring 2018
A frost or even freeze is still looking very likely generally north of I-10 Sunday morning. Before that though we have some big time storms to deal with today and tonight.

Re: Texas Spring 2018
Got to give it to Bubba and Cheezy for sticking with it. The cells in the southwest is probably of most concern since they are more isolated with a lot of feed. Not everyone (especially FW and Westward) will see action but east side has a decent shot

Last cell in Tarrant is just barely going to my north unfortunately. Maybe some MINOR rotation...hesitate to even call it that.

Re: Texas Spring 2018
Nothing says spring like a hodge podge of different weather events all packed in one satellite photo! This afternoon there's everything from the wind-blown sand from the Chihuahuan Desert spreading across West Texas and across the I-20 corridor, to the fires in western Oklahoma billowing smoke up the dry slot into central Kansas, to the blizzard conditions in Colorado and northwestern Kansas, and to the towering cumulonimbus developing across North Texas, eastern Oklahoma, and further north along the dry line and cold front.

Nice satellite shot there!
Yeah major bust in the models today all advancing the dry line too far east. Next Friday into Saturday looks interesting across much of the state. Could see the first big squall line track across a large part of TX for the first time in a while. The Panhandle could also see some very beneficial rainfall from that system.

Someone with better understanding can correct me, but from radar it looks like the dry line stalled west of Tarrsnt county. The storms that fired on it in the Metroplex have lost their support. I wonder if more storms may form later when the front pushes the dry line east?

I also agree that the dryline stalled across the state. It will now apparently await the cold front.

DFW proper got dry slotted with storms/line skirting on the north side and to the south.

Re: Texas Spring 2018
Glad to see some areas to the south getting some rain. I wonder if there was just enough subsidence behind the morning wave to keep storms in check across DFW this afternoon? Skies did clear out pretty nicely while storms were still out to the west, a sign that we got some stable air across the area.

Wind picked up violently. Raining hard now, lightning and some pea sized hail mixed in.

Re: Texas Spring 2018
Just briefly lost power 10 minutes ago in Jacksonville before the storm or wind even got here. It is closing in now, wind has picked up and thunder is rumbling in from the west. Hopefully I don't lose power again, otherwise besides the storm, it will make for a very boring Friday night.
