NE Lehigh Acres: my house has picked up 1 3/4 inches of rain since Sunday early afternoon. It rained overnight but quit early this morning. Wishing it would start again. It is almost 3 PM Monday afternoon.

It did indeed destabilize, and we got some heavy-ish rain around 1-2pm. It has cleared up significantly again, but given how many hours of daytime heating remain, with this soupy atmosphere, I say 2-4 hours and we'll see another round.

Are those INCHES of rain?!?!?
I'm ok with it. It will drive the love bugs away! This threatened to be among the worst years. They were already thick as could be.
Yeah, if 12"-15" were to actually verify i'll be pulling out my kayak if I plan on driving south anytime soon As for the Love-Bugs, I couldn't believe how nasty they were driving across the state to Lake Placid the other day lol. Geez, I've always hated those things. I never really thought about it but i suppose the rain WOULD largely get rid of 'em??
On another note, nice pick up Adam regarding that F-0 damage over near Loxahatchee. I hadn't heard about that. I suppose this won't be the first reports of isolated tornadic damage over the state during the next day or two.
Yeah, I've always been told the love bug season ENDS when rainy season starts! That's why I am happy to see so much rain.
'Course, that means we turn into mosquito season!

Re: Florida Weather
It’s clear and sunny out now, but that will only destabilize the atmosphere and allow for the usual summertime afternoon storms to commence today.

Re: Florida Weather
Was expecting rain activity today in the Pinellas area but the refined forecast calls for mostly inland activity for rest of week.
Quite disappointing given higher overall chances that were highly advertised in west central Fl.

Well, I guess I lied yesterday - or day before? - when I said much rain would take love bugs away!
Yesterday, not so much rain here. Then today, driving from Bowling Green south, 40 miles later, I couldn't even see out my windshield for the bugs! Had to stop and clean the window.
Then got home, and now in early evening, we've had another huge dump of rain, maybe 1/2" to 1&1/2"
Watching Wx Chan, and they are forecasting us to have rain like this all week....

Drove through some of the heaviest storms in a while coming back up from S FL in the Turnpike in St Lucie County & Indian R County. Thank God for Rain X and new tires. Unbelievable wet pattern we are in! Mid level ridging to dry us out is no where to be found.

Re: Florida Weather
Yeah, no drying seen anytime soon. We will have the conveyor belt of moisture out of the Caribbean Sea for days to come as the southerly flow is entrenched over the peninsula. So far over 2.5 inches of rain has been received since Monday at my locale. There are some areas down over South Florida approaching 10 inch totals since Sunday.
We are really just getting started with the rain with the pattern in place for the time being.

Re: Florida Weather
As usual, Southeast Miami-Dade is kind of missing out. We've had some sprinkles and showers, but the only true "heavy rain" we've had so far was Sunday evening around 7PM. Most of the stronger storms that form over land just seem to either stay out west or get swept up north pretty quickly.
Looking at the WV loop, I get the impression that we won't have to wait as long today for convection to get going as we did yesterday with that dry slot dominating the morning.

Re: Florida Weather
Very good rainfall accumulation in the Eastern Boca Raton area yesterday evening where it rained for about 4-5 hours or so and heavy at times. A lot of lightning and thunder too especially just offshore. We are definitely in the rainy season!

Re: Florida Weather
Near term and extended outlooks are wet across FL and the southeast. The long term models are hinting at possible TC formation and I suspect there's some smoke there..or at the very least more plume(s) of tropical moisture will be incoming. rainy season is pretty much here with someone getting dumped on just about every day.

..Heavy Rain Potential Continues through the Weekend Across South Florida...
An upper level low is forecast to open up into a trough of low
pressure and strengthen over the Gulf of Mexico late this week
into this weekend. These factors will cause tropical moisture to
continue to work into the region from the south, with the
potential for heavy showers and thunderstorms through the week and
into the weekend. Most areas will see between 3 and 7 inches of
rain during this period, but locally higher amounts are possible.
Despite ongoing drought conditions, several periods of heavy rain
may lead to local flooding concerns through the weekend.
The grounds in Palm Beach and Broward Counties is starting to
become saturated, due to the rainfall amounts of 4 to 6 inches
with some isolated areas seeing up to 7 inches that has already
fallen since early last weekend. If the forecast rainfall
continues to pan out in the next days, then a Flood Watch may be
needed for portions of the eastern South Florida for later this
week into this weekend. At this time, there is also a marginal
risk of flooding across the eastern areas of South Florida late
this week from the World Prediction Center (WPC).

Re: Florida Weather
According to the TV weather last night, my area, Dr. Phillips, has had over 5" of rain since Sunday. It rained a little more last night and this morning, so probably pushing about 6" by now. Other areas close by got even more inches. There was flooding and ponding on the streets in some areas last night.

Well, regardless of what happens with any development in the SW Caribbean, seems like it's going to be wet for a while in Florida. Looking at the satellite picture currently, that moisture funnel is well established right over us and doesn't seem to be going anywhere fast.
I always remember Memorial Day weekend as typically being stormy and wet.

Re: Florida Weather
The deep tropical express coming all the way from the SW Caribbean and EPAC is in full effect across our area with no end in sight, at least through the Memorial weekend. I'm already tired of the rain but at least is keeping our ACs from working overtime.
