ATL: ALBERTO - Post-Tropical

South Florida is extremely fortunate that gigantic spiral band is over the Bahamas at the moment. That would've created more than just 'nuisance' flooding. Perhaps it can spiral back over the peninsula later but it doesn't look like it will.

and the convection is starting to pop really good on the NW/W side of the center... might be some hot towers trying to develop ... LLC looks very healthy and starting to look more tropical by the minute... wonder if he has any final surprises for us...

The latest GFS which has been a fairly good job is persistent in Alberto putting on the breaks later today to slowly make landfall tomorrow afternoon.

Its current speed & location was forecasted very well by the last two runs of the GFS, so' I believe the GFS's forecast of it slowing down later today.
But I understand that you want it gone

convection trying its hardest to wrap around the center now.. I estimate 60-70% of the center has convection... most ever in Alberto's history... looks tropical to me now... lucky for the dry air or reaching hurricane status would have been very achievable.... would of, could of, should of...

Not sure why the NHC is reporting 40 kts (45 mph) now. I haven't seen any recon data to even support 35 kts. Yes, it's stronger than yesterday, but it never had any TS winds yesterday. Recon does indicate it's tropical now, though. That will mean a better opportunity to strengthen.

I’m thankful that massive amount of rain appears that it will stay off the coast to avoid even more rain. If that rain moves in then it would be pretty bad on the already saturated ground.

Much more circular than yesterday. Strong convection now even in bands to the SW of the center. As Alberto slingshots around the upper low, moving more NW, I would think we see a decrease in speed shortly. Looks like he is just far enough west to perhaps take advantage of the warm water and lessened shear. This storm is finally starting to look interesting.

last couple of frames on the sat loops almost looks NW... most likely a wobble, but a wobble here and there to the west could keep Alberto over water a little longer, wondering if it will slow down upon landfall... dang this has been a fun storm to track, doing it is May is even better...
