Actually they have a bad habit of intensifying this time of year.

I believe that tendency would tend to apply more to later season storms.

Destin, you should prepare for possible hurricane conditions tomorrow. Just saying it’s probably gonna be a little rockier than you may have figured.

Well I was wrong but it is crappy looking on radar

Oh, NO doubt!! I anticipated that we'd see some pressure falls any time soon. That doesn't mean for a moment that I think Alberto looks any better then "dog-meat" though :roflmao:

This is getting interesting for those of us in Santa Rosa county. I get the sense that some let their guard down a bit when the track moved Eastward. It now seems to be swinging back our way.

Normally one does not need to evacuate for Cat 1/2
Storm surge estimates are my critical deciding factorand or CAT 3 classification

Beg to differ with ya. Cat 1 will issue on barrier islands voluntary evacuations with cat 2 mandatory evacuation. Storm surge could be an issue as well. Tourist will be asked to leave first

Yeah, I think you are right. I'm in Pace, between Pensacola and Milton...will keep watching until the system is inland here.

I'm a bit worried for those on the northern gulf coast. They didn't expect the track shift and the sudden increase in intensity.

Looks like it has slowed down quite a bit:

Watching it close here on Blackwater Bay in Milton. We had a foot of water in our house from Mate's surge last fall.
May turn out to be a more interesting time than I was thinking earlier today.

The track hasn't really shifted, the NW movement was forecasted. Still on track for a landfall pretty much between FWB and Panama City.

Think the nhc will shift the track in the 10pm advisory?

The center is a little west of where they forecasted though

I don't know that I'd be overly concerned about a 20' boat on a lift, as much as I'd be a bit more concerned about a slightly enhanced risk of a nearby tree, debris or other weaker structure landing on it. Definitely make sure that boat plug is out.

So I wasn't worried and now maybe I should? As long as we don't act like idiots and venture out we should be fine, correct?? High rise on the beach. Evaq map that someone listed elsewhere said we were in a zone for I believe a cat 3.
