Nothing we haven't seen already, or before. I guess I won't go running at 2:30pm early next week.

Special Weather Statement

...HOTTER CONDITIONS ON THE WAY NEXT WEEK...Approaching HEAT
ADVISORY CRITERIA...

An upper level ridge will build over the western U.S. through the
weekend, then shift over the Southern Plains for the last half of
next week. The resulting sinking air will bring lower humidity,
lower cloudcover, and higher temperatures to our area. Afternoon
heat index values will range from 105 to 109 generally along and
east of Interstate 35. Overnight lows will only drop into the mid
to upper 70s, offering little relief.

Plan now to have plenty of water and sports drinks on hand to help
prevent dehydration. Try to stay in air-conditioned areas or under
shade if outside from noon to 6 pm each day next week. Make sure
pets and plants have adequate water and shade or air-conditioning.
Check on neighbors, especially if they live alone or you might be
concerned about their overall health. Besides the normal advice
of Beat the Heat, Check the Backseat! for child safety, next week
is not the time for anyone or any pets to spend time in a hot car.
Move quickly from your car to an air-conditioned building as fast
as possible.

Would not be surprised if some hit 105+. Especially the northern half of the state this coming week.

It's possible ridge might go further west and induce NW flow later in the period which could produce some relief.

Looks dreadful next week. Even though I basically got little more than a trace of rain through all of this in north Fort Worth, I had multiple storms CLOSE so things cooled off wonderfully in the evenings/late afternoons usually to near 80 as they died off.

Of course it would. Because North American geography causes whacked out weather. A solid monsoon pattern like Asia, and Texas would have no worries ever about summer drought.

looks like I picked a good week to go out of town  ... going to San Francisco on Friday for a long weekend where the high is forecast to be barely 70

Meanwhile could be some near record highs for DFW(105 on Friday), the hottest weather of the summer probably/hopefully

Including yesterday, 8 days of 100F or more at DFW so far. Another 7 could be added the coming days.

Might be some 110s in some areas along the Red River N and W of DFW. Wichita Falls will come close

I also missed out on much of the rain this month at the house, the most rain I saw was Thursday and that didn't even amount to a .25". It's been so dry that my porch columns are loose due the the porch settling more than normal, and I also have found cracks in the ground I haven't seen in four years since last long drought. Going to be a tough week for the electric grid.

Just have hope that the models are missing out on any weaknesses/shortwaves that may round the ridge into Texas; there are still large chunks of the state that aren't even in the heights on those model runs. And as I've mentioned before, I've seen areas still have rain forecasted even when under the same heights as what Texas will get, or even stronger.

And this is actually more reminiscent of a spring pattern rather than a summer pattern, when it comes to how far south the mid-latitude westerlies are extending.

NWS forecast high for Dallas next Saturday: 105. NWS forecast high for Texarkana next Saturday: 94. I don't think Texarkana has seen a temperature north of 100 in over 2 years. It must suck to live in the DFW metroplex, no snow in the winter and triple digit heat during the summer. Sounds like a place Weatherman 57 would love to live.

Ironically, Texarkana has a warmer record high temp (117F) than DFW (112F). In fact, that 117F is among the hottest temperatures ever recorded in the state.

Overall, northern Texas is quite an extreme climate region. But in all fairness, the entire US has extreme weather compared to other parts of the world.

If DFW can top 110 that will be impressive. Something 2011 did not do, 110F was the summer high that year.

Though I don't think that is likely. Vegetation is still relatively green for this late in the summer so it won't be easy to get that high.

Can we please fast forward to September? The next few weeks look absolutely brutal, with the worst across north TX.

Drought will be making a quick comeback to areas that aren't currently in it. Weather depression is back.

Considering NTX is in severe drought rn , extreme drought will likely develop by late July . Something hasn’t happened since like 3 years or so .

Like severe drought in CTX by the end of the month

Where are all the warm mongers (minus the heatmiser) posts?! They love to boast how much they enjoy warmth in winter but you don't see them sunbathing in this heat ...

Probably more like leaving to the beaches somewhere else .

Faux-warm mongers, rather they like pleasant temperatures (when it's cold) rather. :layout:

It got up to 97 at my house today. They predicted a high of 99.

The Saharan Dust/haze might have been a blessing in disguise, lowering temps a couple degrees.

Or, could be the moderating effect of green vegetation from the multi-inch rain 1 to 2 weeks ago, which will dry up fast in these kinds of temps with no rain.

Or could be both. Yeah, haven't heard much from the warm-mongerers! :sun:
