No weakening according to recon. In fact, just the opposite...somehow. And that's why I said it wouldn't be Harvey. Lol.

The crux of Harvey's run at Category 4 was a center reformation early on that placed the circulation quite possibly in the most ideal position for rapid development. In an exceptionally favorable upper-air environment, the center reformation on that fateful night blossomed into an expansive central dense overcast in the overnight hours that eventually led to a hurricane the following afternoon.

Gordon is a bit speedy this evening and while it recon shows an upward trend it probably can't keep this up forever unless the circulation embeds itself well within convection, which doesn't seem to be the case right now, although it is trying.

Yeah, it's probably only a matter of time before we see a big blow-up over the center.

What gets my immediate attention is the nasty stuff pushing west from AL into MS along the coast. It's moving at a pretty good clip.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

I am not surprised by the more westerly jog it has taken the last couple of hours, earlier this afternoon you could see the strong east to west low level jet across the northern GOM, that ridge to the north is pretty strong and since it has weakened some since earlier this morning it has been steered more by the low level steerings.
