Don’t blow my head off, but in my opinion, this is just not as strong as the NHC has it. Looks more like 45 kt, 1005 mb to me at this point.

I know it may “look” like it’s only 45kts, but they literally have a plane inside the storm right now. Those readings are far more accurate than looks.

Almost looks like outflow boundaries shooting west towards Louisiana and also some southerly shear on the southern half of Gordon on visible. I also expected the LLC to appear much "tighter" than it is now. Add me to the not impressed camp as of midday Tuesday, we'll see what he looks like this evening.

Looks based off what I see from recon, not satellite...

I think they are feeder bands that rotated around the sparse side rather than outflow boundaries.

Great observation and I agree.

Just got on and have only looked at the radar, but it does seem to be moving north of the forecast unless that is only the mid-level circulation. Maybe a little too far out still to tell on the long-range I'm looking at though. Haven't seen a visible of the llc yet.

Center continues to consolidate nicely. I still expect it to become a hurricane by 4 or 5 PM, as does the NHC.

I hate it when it does that, especially in radar range. Things start to get confusing.

I’m not gonna say it won’t, but I at least would be very surprised. I just haven’t seen anything from recon to suggest it’s getting close.

We must be looking at different loops

How else do you explain the discrepancy that recon has found between flight-level winds and the low-level center? It is clearly not well stacked.

Now sure how satellite loops come into this.

Is an eye just visible on IR sat, or is it just something else?

Recon indicates 45 kts current intensity - and it SURE looks like it is tracking well east of the forecast, like toward Mobile Bay vs. MS. Of course, it could wobble back to the west again.
