Up to 70 MPH in the 5 PM advisory. Looks like they're seeing more organization.

Note that the NHC advisory has the center west of the convection. We think it's about 25-35 miles east of their position. Don't see 60 kts anywhere, but they won't indicate any weakening for a landfalling storm so the public won't take it too lightly. I still think 45kts, 50 kts max now.

So it looks like Gordon will once again be around in 2024, despite the fact it should have been retired after killing 1152 in 1994; apparently it was not retired then because Haiti didn't send a delegate to the 1995 WMO meeting.

I am definitely surprised by the upgrade to 60 kt, guess that’s why I don’t work for the NHC

Yeah I would have thought they would have left the strength as it was instead of bumping it up considering it doesn't look any better on radar...but someone somewhere might see a few big gusts. Guess we will see when those bright reds close to the center move inland.

NHC still has it making landfall over around Biloxi too. Based on the satellite it does look like it's heading more that way again. Looks like the COC is already south of the AL/FL border or even just west of there..

That was a big north jog, but does seems to be shifting a little west. You can almost see some core organization changes too; seems the center has grown in size a bit

Colors of lost purpose on the canvas of irrelevance

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

So like, he’s going to hit you, but you want him to be a hurricane?

That takes some kind of...spunk? Nerve? Bravery? Naivety ? Something I conspicuously lack?

I mean I suppose a marginal hurricane isn’t that different from a strong tropical storm but I’m a coward who can’t sleep through a thunderstorm.
You do you I guess. 8-)

Several of the higher resolution models showed this north jog before a bend back to the west. I believe the hurricane hunters will find a hurricane when they return. If the jog west occurs it will have enough time to strengthen more. If not, then there isn’t enough time.

Haha 5mph isn’t that big of a difference. I just wanted to be right :)
