That is very early, especially since Florence looks like she's barley alive right now.

It seems to be for farmers. Its harvest season and this could be a huge loss. The State of Emergency waives some transportation laws to help farmers get their crops out.

A good call. Florence is struggling now but almost certainly will intensify and perhaps dramatically so on approach to the East Coast.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

NHC has a CAT4 threatening the SE Coast in 5 days.

Governor is correct in his decision.

It just gets the wheels moving.

I can understand the reasoning behind that.

The old style Goes-13 floaters are still available here http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/TROP/floaters-old.html (and still work)

It was to waive transportation restrictions so farmers can harvest.

I am sticking with the Atlantic Beach/Morehead City/Ocracoke landfall.

Amazing area of NC, I hope I'm incorrect.

Shear is really doing a number on her and she appears to be sinking like a stone. She's fighting the shear but it is definitely taking a toll.

Im going on a limb for a rare GA landfall near the SC border.

I don't think the South shifting is done.

I wouldn't be surprised to see emergency declarations made all up and down the Eastern Seaboard. The beach erosion alone is going to cause havoc and tax local resources. Many coastal communities from Florida to New England may need Federal assistance with beach restoration and shoreline stabilization.

Yeah Flo is taking a major beating from shear for sure for the time being.

What are the chances the immense amount of sheer she is being hit with now will cause her to disintegrate completely ?

You may be right on this one. Not only would the Georgia landfall be very rare, but the fact that Florence will make landfall at all from where she originated is rare. Of course we only have 150 or so years of history to go by.
