Hot tower firing southwest of the center right now. Outer eye wall fully closed and immediately contracting. Looks to be deepening. I expect recon to find a strengthening storm.
She has slowed down right over the gulf stream and not quite in the shallow continental shelf waters just yet.

Is Florence making the WSW turn early according to Euro? Clouds tops are warm on AVN...

Looks like this will (is?) stall(ing?) much quicker..... Might be able to regain intensity but not too much....

Per radar and satellites, I think she drifted almost straight north (NNW?) since ~3;30 PM though this may just be a wobble.

Still here across the river from Wilmington at the battleship USS North Carolina.

Definitely can see the first big feeder band to the east.

No rise of water yet but I expect that to change quickly.

Backup plan 1 of 5 are the bridges over the Cape Fear River. Can go up on the approaches should water rise fast.

Not concerned about 120 mph wind. Truck handles that fine.

Although I have been a hurricane forecaster since 1980 that only means I've been wrong lots of times.

One big-ass tower just fired off on the SW quad.
Moving like a bat out of hell.

That 68 mph sustained wind in Cape Lookout means we almost have a hurricane impact in NC. Once we get there it will be the first time since 2003-05 that there were CONUS hurricanes three straight years.

Recon is heading almost directly for that hot tower blowing up on the SW to S of the center. The plane may end up trailing it but that looks like a very bumpy ride into the eye.

Wobble watching is going to be intense. I think because you have a pretty pronounced outer eyewall, the inner one may bounce around inside it. maybe doing little loops.

That outer eyewall seems to be turning into a feeder band into the inner eyewall on its east side.

Actual track since 11 AM EDT:
11 AM 33.4, 75.5
Noon 33.5, 75.7
1 PM 33.6 75.9
2 PM 33.6 76.0
3 PM 33.6 76.1
4 PM 33.7 76.1

NHC Projected for 8 PM: 33.9 76.6
NHC Projected for 8 AM: 34.2 77.8

It looks like at 8 PM it should be close to 33.9 N but 76.6 will be tough. So, it will most likely verify east of the 8 PM projection.
