Florence has really been packing a punch today despite her weakening. It doesn't matter though. A Cat 2 is bad enough, but the momentum and energy already established contributing to the storm surge you would see with a Cat 3+ makes it a force not to be reckon with, as Mark Sudduth's cameras have been showing. Radar shows a well formed hurricane (structure wise), while infrared has improved since earlier. And Recon is showing another bend to the west again (stair stepping?)
I really feel for the people in the Carolinas and pray that they still have homes and business to go back too. In some places TWC and Fox have been reporting from still have power despite over 100,000+ people without electric. Still holding on so far.
