I remember 12 yrs ago when I also witnessed this kind of scene during STY Durian. I can only see white when I looked out of our window. I can't even see our neighbor's house just beside us. Moments later I saw our roof being torn off. Then saw other houses' roof flying also and then a freaking tricycle being flipped on mid air and thrown to our neighbor's house which was at the back of ours. I have spent 6 hours holding on to our door to prevent it from being blown away. The next day I saw corpses being retrieved and loaded on trucks. I didn't give a damn about storms before that, but after that day any news about typhoon coming would quickly make me nervous :(

I'd go further north of Tuguegarao if I'm chasing this although development in those areas are not as good as in the
Provincial capitol - I was actually eyeing the municipality of Lal-lo when I was planning for this - there are 2 decent hotel with solid structure near Magapit bridge.

Typhoon Haima had 12 pages in its thread in Storm2K, while this one has already 31; it hasn't even even made landfall. It's so wide in scope we're getting rains and gale-force winds.

Haima, Megi, Rammasun were all sunny days. Nothing happened. It's a stark contrast to what we're experiencing now in Cebu. Why didn't PAGASA issue Signal No. 1?? Haima's diameter is already 1500 km wide.

This could be the "yugest" storm to threaten the Cagayan Valley region since Typhoon Zeb 1998 - a 1800 km wide howler

Ompong/Mangkhut's cloud cover extends much further south and west because of the presence of the Habagat, exacerbating the potential impact. Zeb struck one month later, when the SW Monsoon was totally absent.

The latest Euro and GFS runs have shifted a bit to the right. Looks like hurricane-force wind over the Pearl River Delta is still possible.

James has relocated north, he returned to Sta Ana and I'm 100 percent sure he's at Nassim Hotel and Beach Resort. Surge is not much of an issue at that location since it is in the leeward side of the mini peninsula.

Typhoon Mangkhut has been a category five typhoon for quite a while now, maintaining such intensity for 2.75 days as of 14/06z. One more advisory and it enters its third day. Are there any records for longevity at cat 5 strength?

It has already been a super typhoon for 3.00 days. ACE for Mangkhut is at 35.7 and is certain to surpass Maria's 35.8 and Norman's 36.6; it could challenge Hector (50.3) and Lane (44.0) globally in 2018. Interesting times in the Pacific this season. Could this attain 50? At this rate, it's very possible and it wouldn't take very long.

Another impressive image at sunset this Friday. When the sun rises tomorrow, the system is expected to be already over Luzon. Hopefully, those in the path of this howler are already prepared.

Haima and Mangkhut are both the 22nd named storms of their respective typhoon seasons.
