Abouit 30 minutes ago I was listening to the CNN Audio feed and I thought I heard their weather reporter say that they were pulling their teams inland but leaving up various cameras for livestreams.

I really don't recall that happening before either. I was pretty sure we had near continuous coverage of other big storms in the last 15 years - like Katrina.

@RyanMaue — Absolutley incredible satellite presentation from #HurricaneMichael

Satellite algorithms are almost T 7.5 ... if we didnt have aircraft recon, this would be an open ocean Cat 5 with 150 knot winds ...

Central pressure measured by aircraft is in the 920s mb ...

Live streaming currently in Port St Joe.

Deciding on if we go back to Panama city or stay here. Track looks like it will be between the 2 places. Waiting a little longer to make a decision.

Currently winds gusting 60 mph ish

Even if it stays as a strong 4,the catastrofic effects will endure that area, same as we here in Puerto Rico went thru with Maria.

Yeah you are right. A strong Cat 4 effects are virtually the same. The fact that the cyclone is still strrngthening through up to landgall is nothing short of amazing in this area of the basin in the Northeast Gulf of Mexico.

Also, i am simply offering an educated opinion of this situation and tt is appearing to my weary eyes that Panama City (downtown) will probably be barely on the west portion of the eyewall, barring a wobble westward on approach to landfall. I think Mexico Beach will endure that catastrophic right quad basrd on the current header.

Again this is my thought process after closely analyzing radar and satellite imagery.

Salute!

Which TWC crew bugging out?

The PC folks have three good ways out that will likely not be flooded for a while.

Pt St Joe has zilch, as 98 heads to PC then 331 north and so forth, but the road north to Dead Lakes and such is low!

Guess it was the young lady at Pt St Joe

Gums sends...

0900 report from Niceville, 30.5 86.5 first feeder band storm about to hit, but looks like basic shower

Yeah we really do need too see the NE quad as the NW has been steadily heading up over the last few hours. The whole eyewall basically has 100kts+ winds.

The P3 just measured FL winds of 144 kt in the SE quad. Michael is still intensifying. This is simply heart-breaking.

Scary stuff.

I will say I never have.

I've seen them hiding behind buildings (down-wind of the storm), hunkering behind concrete structures, dodging debris blowing around them during a live shot....

I have NEVER seen them bug out.

This is so much worse than anyone can fathom.

144kt FL in the SE eyewall easily put it at 130kt intensity. They may find 130kt+ surface wind in NE eyewall

That's getting genuinely close to cat-5 type flight level winds!

Gotta think that NEquad will have 130kts at the surface?

Yep. Unreal to see this. Looks like landfall intensity will be 130 to 140kt instead of 120 to 130kt.

There are places they never position to begin with because of the danger level like many barrier islands. No one gave a thought to being on Cape San Blas or St. George Island today
