@JackSillin — Panama City has now been in #Michael's western eyewall for an hour and a half. Likely some pretty extreme damage, along with Mexico City which got the Right Front Quadrant (part of the storm where the strongest winds are). Long radar loops: weather.us/satellite/862-… #wetter #FLwx

Accelerating to the NE now on radar, Tallahassee should have a very windy evening.

Unless latest stats change THIS is the official ranking of most intense landfalling pressure/hurricanes.

Some were discussing, and tweeting, pressure at landfall. Katrina made landfall at 920mb but of course just looking at a single stat is meaningless.

Yes, and that discussion was specifically regarding US mainland landfalls.

The eyewall has finally cleared Panama City, and finally there is some weakening indications on satellite as the eye starts to shrink

One of the most remarkable hurricanes in US history.

Can't wait to read the post-analysis. Michael is definitely going down in the record books.

I'm hoping that people are safe and sought shelter well away from the coast and above ground.

Michael mustered its highest eye temperature based on ADT just before landfall. Whoaw - and it was almost 20°C.

Im not so sure what we are looking at though, clearly they are in some structure looking out the window. Maybe storm surge debris? Im not so sure that is proof of homes leveled like in Andrew... hopefully anyway.

One thing obvious from that video is one outside is in danger of getting speared from some debris.

I question that's Mexico beach. They're in a high rise.
