Re: Florida Weather
We might notch the first sub 70 low of the season tonight...very late for sure and even if it does happen it will only be by a degree or 2 and only for one night as the high dewpoints come right back. nevertheless...baby steps. Looking at the extended outlooks, stubborn above normal temps persist over peninsular Florida but the 8-14 day outlook is showing closer to normal temps (still slightly above) but far better than recent weeks so we should anticipate some steady improvement late month. Normals/record highs and records lows are really falling fast now..

Re: Florida Weather
Sure would be nice if the North Atlantic Oscillation went somewhat negative at least, even if it's just for a week.
If I remember correctly the last time the North Atlantic Oscillation was negative was late May into early June, what a long stretch of the North Atlantic Oscillation being positive.

Re: Florida Weather
Dewpoints are in the mid to upper 50's, the morning low at KPIE was 67, KTPA 65 and as usual central Florida's icebox of Brooksville was showing off with a low of 54. We know it isn't going to last but it sure feels good..

Re: Florida Weather
One morning of a fallish feel here in South Florida (yesterday morning) but quickly back to heat and humidity for the foreseeable future.

I think we, ummm..... "you" deserve it
Actually, it looks like we might just get a slight cool down before then, around the 22nd. Sure, the winds might already be veering a bit off the water already but sure looks like at least a few degrees milder.

Re: Florida Weather
Difficult to throw a flag on late season warmth when it's 50 windy and raining in San Antonio. No thanks. I'll enjoy my shorts weather while it loiters...

Gang take a look at the latest 6-10 day outlook. it shows normalish temps over florida for the first time in ages. Considering our recent temp regime has been closer to record warmth than normal and normal temps are quickly dropping...this would seem to imply that a cool down of consequence is on the way..

Re: Florida Weather
Hints of changes on the way? Btw it's 80°at 6am as I'm typing this, that's ridiculous for a mid-October morning in S.FL!
Some signs of changes in the overall weather pattern as we get
into next weekend, as the persistent ridge weakens, allowing mid-
latitude troughs to pass closer to the region. Most likely, for
Florida, only a zonal flow will form with the main impacts of the
trough remaining north of the area. At the surface, a front will
approach over the weekend, but it appears to be rather weak. For
now, will forecast temperatures to only drop a degree or two
over the weekend, with wind shift to northeast and slightly better
shower/thunderstorm chances.

Re: Florida Weather
This is atleast a good sign if it holds. It changes like the stock market but it could be a good sign for cooler weather in weeks to come.

Re: Florida Weather
12z GFS has the core of the cooler air missing the FL peninsula barely to the east. If the NAO does go negative it’ll be the first time it’s does so in nearly five months!

Re: Florida Weather
Fortunately we don't need a big core of chilly air to deliver a meaningful change. Here in the bay area we've been having lows in the upper 70's and highs around 90. Just getting close to normal will be a dramatic change. It really is amazing how warm the southeast is compared to areas to the west. South Texas is in the 50's with a raw, gusty north wind and they're on the same latitude as the florida peninsula.
