18z GFS has this becoming the 3rd major hurricane of the season and staying around for the next 10 days or so.

That's what, the 7th storm this year to be subtropical at some point or another?

Re: ATL: OSCAR - SubTropical Storm - Discussion
They're forecasting a 60kt peak. I think there's a good chance of this becoming the eighth hurricane of the season.

Let's see if Oscar puts on a show... he might be the last named storm of the season.

That seems far fetched. The other models all show it getting caught in this trough and flying poleward.

We are in the late season so forum activity is much lower then before. Fish storms tend to not be monitored by a lot of people.
Oscar is making a run to hurricane status. IMO I won't rule out a possible major out of this though category 2 looks more likely.

Got my eyes on moving right into Hurricane Alley: Florida.
Re: ATL: OSCAR - Tropical Storm - Discussion
Once Oscar becomes a hurricane it’ll be the 8th of the season, that’s just shy two of last years impressive 10 in-a-row hurricanes!

Was this season supposed to be average or below average?

In terms of quantity of storms, we are only 2 named storms and hurricanes behind 2017 and 4 majors behind. In my opinion, that is very impressive for a season that was foretasted to be below average.
