I foresee surprisingly decent snow tomorrow night along and north of I-20 and even into Friday morning into NE TX. This system i cold and as long as some moisture remains it will be squeezed out.

I am amazed at how bad the Euro has been today with surface temps. It has only a tiny pocket of sub freezing air for this afternoon around Abilene when in fact most of western Texas is in the 20s.

00Z EC has all of west TX below freezing at 18Z (noon) from just west of FTW south to Del Rio. Much of the area in the 20s. Looks good to me. What are you looking at?

I don’t know how reliable it is, but the SPC SREF shows .5 inch of snow for me in north FW barely.

Each run has moved the snow a little bit more east each time.

Aren’t you in Wylie Brent? That model looks like it curves right around that area:)

It also puts a bullseye right on Durant, ok.....looks Durant would be in the hunt for 4-6 inches though if the model were to verify.

yeah I'm in Wylie, thinking about a little roadtrip up towards OK tomorrow unless things trend better for the northern metro, I mean Durant is barely over an hour away

This is really depressing to me as we watch another possible near miss for DFW. Just shows how short our window is here to get something to happen.

What's the early spring storm outlook?

Both the 12z Euro and GFS have the best precipitation across northern DFW from 12z - 18z tomorrow with surface temps in the mid-30s for those areas. We know that the global models have been running warm at the surface, so maybe those areas are closer to freezing? However, the important factor is will the column be cold enough to support snow? The Euro looks to be much closer to a snow profile than the GFS during that time frame. Both models show 0.5 - 0.75" of rain falling during this period of borderline temps, if things trend colder at the last second than we could actually see some impressive totals in portions of Tarrant and Collin.

Happy New Year!!! Meanwhile the ground is completely fully saturated here in Austin and the rain is coming down fairly hard. The intensity comes in waves but at its slowest, I would say it's still on the high end of the moderate side before increasing back up to heavy rainfall. Approaching 3 inches here at the aptly named Rain Cave.
