Re: Texas Spring 2019
Had some brief (maybe 3-5 minutes) of ping-pong to golf ball sized hail. Seemed like the hail core popped out of nowhere.

Down south a nasty cell is moving towards San Antonio. Tor warned and large hail.
Yep that was an unexpected supercell thunderstorm that tracked from Del Rio to northern SA. My parent's were lucky to only get marble size hail...5-10 miles north there was 3" hail. Impressive storm.

That certainly did come out of nowhere with ping pong hail in Irving.

Mostly pea size here but the heaviest hail I have ever seen for about 1 minute. All rain now thank goodness.

Yeah it didn't last very long and was moving northwest from 183 towards the airport. Kind of surprised.
That little hail core is moving between Coppell and Grapevine now.

That's pretty amazing. Given temps are really cool around the metroplex shows how strong the lift is and dynamics of the system. We could've used this storm in the winter

Re: Texas Spring 2019
It definitely did hit the airport at the time of observation (after 10:45am). Usually hail never lasts longer than 10-15 mins, it's rare to get the official station to record it at the time they log it.

I feel safe saying I will get two inches today. Finally a decent rain event. Maybe this will help start a bit of a pattern change.

Re: Texas Spring 2019
We've been pretty lucky. Had this system moved a bit more northwest DFW and company would've been in line for more severe weather. Some long tracked violent tornadoes already in the far SE area of FW CWA.

Significant damage in Alto, TX. Dozens of downed trees, power lines, and some homes destroyed. The high school has been heavily damaged. I had some friends who happened to be driving through town right after the storm. They were headed towards Crockett after passing through Alto and ran into the aftermath of another tornado-warned storm and came across a demolished van on the highway.

The gymnasium at Alto High School. There's supposed to be a wall there.
