Re: Texas Spring 2019
Hail threat looks to be going down as darkness sets in, but storms are still thriving along the boundary, beginning to line up ominously. The axis of heaviest rain might be setting up right through downtown.

According to the Ft Bend County Sheriff, four houses in Katy have been struck by lightning. One is about 1/2 mile from me. No injuries than goodness.

Radar looks like everything is slowly shifting south, but downtown Houston is still getting a good bit of rain. North and NW seem to have hit a dry window. I haven't had rain in over an hour and a half.

On my app, says an area already has 8"
I'm not saying this isn't true, but the Harris County Flood District site is showing max at around 6" in 12 hours in a few areas. Not that it isn't bad...

The past 90 days the NAO (west based) has seen some strong blocking. Our unusual Spring cool spell (coupled with some -EPO) has created a wet/cool couplet. Could have used some of that in winter.
Spring 2013 saw abnormal -NAO that flipped the global circulations minus the wet pattern, is it a similar sign of a flip?

55 degrees this morning at my place. On the news, they said ABIA would have a record cold day. High of 62 today. LOVE IT!

Amen. Relish it folks, this is probably our last taste of weather like this for a while. Mothers Day looks to be perfect with low humidity and sunshine. I am thinking beer and food once again outside.

Lake levels across the eastern half of the state is very healthy. We will be in good standing even for a dry, hot summer (though I doubt it will be). The Northwestern half to third of the state started the year well, better than most, but of course the further east and southeast you go climo eventually caught up. This is why you SE Texas folks really should hardly worry about short term dry spells. In the end, you'll still end up more than everybody. It is the wettest part of the state for a reason historically. It can be made up quickly. It takes areas up north and west months to achieve 5" of rain that can happen in a mere hours in the coastal areas.

Never argue against climo

By summer's end that area in Beaumont/Port Arthur will be ahead of everyone.

So when’s our next rainmaker? Looks like this one is pretty much over for my area.
