Today it was mostly west of 35 with the highest winds. Again a lot of the damage from trees.

However west of 35 does not have the treeline/canopy like east of 35.

Drove back from east Texas right through the storms. Every time I make that drive I encounter a massive thunderstorm it seems.
I have seen more snapped trees and broken branches this spring than any other in my life. Just incredible the amount of damage done by these storms over the last couple months.

Some storms have re-fired along I-30. It has been a struggle for short range guidance.

Big storm in SA a few hours ago. Much needed rain as the airport is still below normal for the year.

Yesterday's rainfall upped to 2.42" (some fell after 4:30).

I got a good soaker yesterday afternoon, wind was pretty strong but not like last weekend. Models sure have backed off precip chances for this week compared to last fridays forecast.

Around midnight, I woke up to loud thunder and a lot of lightning. Rained HEAVILY for a solid 15 minutes. Then it was moderate and off and on. I got just shy of 1" out from it. The lightning was vivid! So green around here, and feels great this morning! This is how the Pacific NW should have been when I was there, instead of the heat wave I experienced.lol

Glad the SA area finally is getting some good rain this month. They have seen much little compared to the rest of us. Bad luck. Looks to be changing now

Yeah no kidding. Almost half as much rain so far this year as Austin. Hopefully they continue to get regular good rainfall!

Yeah, I called my dad (my mom also on phone) yesterday to wish him happy father's day. They live in SA. They asked if I was doing anything that night. I said probably not, there are storms that are supposed to be moving in this evening. My mom said, "Oh, that would be great! Let's hope so! We need it." So they are in the same boat. Not as much rain as the rest of us. But June is our last wet month climatologically before July and August hits. Let's hope they can get it on some more.

Euro Weeklies now go into August and our pattern looks pretty locked in with above normal rain and below normal temps for the northern 2/3s of the state. Get through August and it's all down hill from there!

ETA: the DFW ensemble mean for the end of July into 1st of August is 95-96 each day, so we are talking "below" normal by a degree or two but no signs of a massive heat wave.
