Yep. Very strange to feel cooler winds from the south.

Somehow the seabreeze storms skipped over my house but areas all around had moderate to heavy rain.

This summer definitely feels like the one that I always desire for. ( a place like Orlando or Atlanta.) Ah yes! Occasional widespread torrential rain every week or two but otherwise daily outflows and spotty storms. Looks to remain that way thru next week, :D

Keeps the temperatures in check too. I have to work a lot outside so I’m very thankful for that.

Pouring rain at the house with lightning. Went from 96 to 86. Seabreeze activity I guess. I'll take it! :)

It's literally unzipping right over me too.
Interesting! paralleling 183. Getting the benefit.;)

I got 0.75" from it. It was about 55 minutes off and on.

Despite being a below normal, wetter than normal summer so far Summer is still going to be Summer in Texas. Days of warmth/heat/dry becomes really old really quick.

But...On this day back in 1980 DFW hit 112 it what was the back-end of a 3 day stretch of 110+ (113, 113, and 112) in what is arguably the hottest week in DFW history.

What a terrible summer that must have been. I was a 6 year old living in Mt. Laurel New Jersey at the time so I have no recollection of it. We made up for it in 2011 though. Just as bad.

My memory from that summer is the tar in the streets, poured to fill the cracks in the concrete, actually liquified again and getting all over my bike tires.

Mostly I just wish it could get cloudy but not thunderstorm so I can still go for walks outside. But I suppose that's too much to ask...

I know I can't straddle the atmosphere...just a tiny storm in your teacup, girl.

I remember people putting blocks of ice in swimming pools because the pools were so warm, warmer than body temp.

A perfectly normal summer day at DFW with a high of 94 and a low of 74, exactly the avgs for the day.

Unfortunately, I remember this stretch of 1980 heat quite well at 7 years old. This was the week our family was in the process of moving (driving) from Southern Illinois to Houston. I think we arrived in Houston on July 3, 1980. During our drive down to Texas, there were numerous places still in the upper 90's to near 100 degrees at night. It was absolutely brutal. I still give my dad a hard time for choosing to relocate during the official worst heat wave in US history.

There is a 500mb weakness/shortwave coming in from the East. It may give some summer rains and storms for a lucky few this afternoon and evening.

June is basically guaranteed to be below normal. The seasonal guidance did a very good job predicting the summer below anomalies to reside within the southern plains very well in advance. Looks to continue in July.

We are in Kansas to shoot fireworks with family (been awhile since I did that, but love them) and celebrate the 4th today at a lake. It is going to be much hotter here than back home in Fort Worth. Oh well, they needed a rain break.

The 12z FWD sounding was pretty juiced with a stout cap in place but the convective temp was only 90F. Storms are ongoing to our east and the HiRes models are all over the place with what happens later today. Convective mode is in question with some showing a MCS forming and others just showing clusters of erratically moving storms.
