Re: ATL: BARRY - Tropical Storm - Discussion

Based on the low-level reflectivity motions from the KLCH radar and the observations from the offshore platforms farther south I suspect Barry's doing the same thing as it did yesterday, spitting out a locally dominant circulation center some distance northwards. The entire circulation appears elongated on a NW-SE orientation and displaced northwest from the convection as a whole. The low-level gyre center appears to be near or over Marsh Island at this time, perhaps slightly south of the wind and pressure center.

Why do you say they missed it? I don't see any wind direction change.

Center may be inland near NW corner of Vermilion Bay according to the recon report of a light west wind there. Don't know if this is THE center or one of several. I don't think it's under that deep convection way to the south.

I agree, the LLC is overland near Vermillion Bay or partly on land but it could be doing another loop like it has been doing for the past day or so.

I bit hard to think this would be the "end" of it with so much convection so far out in the gulf going off? What will happen with that, will it just die down?

It looks that way. On the coast near the NW tip of Vermilion Bay.

I think HH might find Barry is actually a hurricane when it gets to the SE quad.

Looks like heavy rain bands and training has started. LA and NOLA are to the west but look at all of that rain. I was surprised when NOLA decided to lower the expected Mississippi river crest height from 19ft to 17ft last night,
