How come I can't find this storm called Invest96L *anywhere* on the NHC page??? Does someone have a link or did you guys just decide it was now an invest on your own?

Storm2k bribed Stewart. Jk, you can find the .dat files here (NHC has been tracking this as GENESIS for a bit).

So it's been a year, have I lost my mind? Alzheimers? Didn't the NHC always put "invest" and whatever number on thier 2 and 5 day outlooks? Like we knew when it got to 70% it would be considered an invest? Just curious because I don't want to be thinking it's not an invest for some reason when it really is. Also, I don't know where to find "navy site" so if you could provide me with a link, I would be grateful. No, really, I promise!

I don't think the NHC has ever referred to anything as an invest on their outlooks. Also there doesn't seem to be any specific criteria for declaring one that I know of (maybe someone can correct me on this if there is?).

It's arbitrarily up to NHC when to declare something an invest, and no they do not reference them as Invests in the TWO (TWO is for public consumption, technically invests are used for internal purposes).

I think 96L is still at least 72 hours away from developing.

and it looks like it might be heading for us. Trust me, folks, St Maarten can't handle a tropical storm or worse a CAT 1 hurricane. we are still in recovery. Many people are still living under tarps 2 years after Irma. #worried

Same for PR. Even a Cat 1 will be devestating.
When I was watching the sat loop today I was thinking that it sure looked like it was trying to spin.

This post was probably an opinion of mine, and in no way is official. Please refer to http://www.hurricanes.gov for official tropical analysis and advisories.

I know this is off subject but I know that cycloneye monitors this thread.
Cycloneye, are you ok? It looks like PR is still getting pummeled with rain.
What's left of 95l seems to not want to leave you guys alone.

Storm2K acts more responsibly than that. Trust me.

Satellite imagery suggests the rain is affecting the Virgin Islands more than Puerto Rico. But yes, this is indeed off-topic.

Seems to be starting to come together convectively and this will probably be 10 to 20% at the 2 day at 2 AM

ASCAT pass only caught the western half of the circulation but clearly shows it is still a broad & weak COC, give it al least another 48-72 hrs.
