Ukmet develops cyclone in W.Carribean

#1 Postby Vortex » Mon Oct 20, 2003 2:06 pm

The ukmet develops a tropical cyclone over the SW carribean beyond 72 hours. By saturday it moves the system slowly NW just off the coast of Honduras while strengthening. At H-120 it has a strong ridge off the carolinas and a strengthening storm over the western carribean.

Sorry if I double post, but accidentally put in as new topic (don't think it took. GFS 12Z TC model shows a low in the SW Caribbean moving NE to a poksition in the SE BAhamas, and getting trapped under a huge ridge building across the CONUS. Think the ridge is overdone a bit, but we'll have to wait again for future runs. Least many models are showing development in the western Caribbean.
