Re: ATL: DORIAN - Tropical Storm - Discussion
Dorian just took a gulp of dry air, and is clearly on a weakening trend for now. Very good news for the islands.

Gonna grab some water in advance of the crowds, just in case.....can’t hurt. I’m remembering Irma going from a “just watch” to an existential threat to all of SFL, very quickly.
Speaking of SFL man is it storming in Miami now. Brutal heavy rain and the lightning bolts are flying.

John can't believe that anyone would disagree with him, even the NHC. He "can't understand" why the NHC would forecast it as a hurricane into the DR and "he has a lot of experience in this" and he "isn't too concerned" with a regenerating TS. - What he just said on his FB Live chat.
So he is doubling down on Wait and see but not too worried for Florida

A bit premature to say that.

I added the word "for" before the word "now" since I made a typo. It's weakening a bit for now, but obviously there is still a great likelihood it will pick itself back up given the relatively favorable conditions it is in right now.

Re: ATL: DORIAN - Tropical Storm - Discussion
This morning's ASCAT-C pass doesn't show any wind vectors stronger than ~30 knots. Maybe Dorian isn't as strong as estimated? It's also possible though that the ASCAT is undersampling the strongest winds since Dorian is a compact system.

He is sticking to his forecast but he also mentioned he isn't infallible, as i said earlier, when he sounds the alarm then hit the store immediately

No! There’s no evidence of any kind of weakening at this time. Always keep on guard for this storm. It’s erratic and can potentially intensify.

Could be a BIG coup for the gfs...HWRF/HMON dissipate it over land.

Definitely took some dry air in. Mentioned the odd placement of the llc too. Could have been a short lived mid level pulse of shear.
Just have to wait and see.

I think it has more to do with the system's growth and associated increase in footprint. Looks like it may have picked up some continental air from South America if you look at microwave imagery. I think it might just slow the intensification rate though rather than reverse it, especially considering current structure.
