I have a well and a solar system to power it which feeds into a reverse osmosis system, so yeah I can have the cleanest water I want. But cleaning out a container for emergencies seems fine.

Wells can become contaminated from a storm, though.

Not in NoVA. You are missing my point. There is a lot of things people can do that does not cost money to prepare for a storm.

Looking at satellite IR vs radar I see that satellite IR's "eye" feature is slightly SSE of where TJUA radar has the center. How much of this is parallax shift vs unstacked vorts in the vertical column? I'm not sure what the parallax correction would be here and not positive how to find out. Naively to me it looks like he system may be becoming more vertically consolidated with the IR "eye" tucking into the CDO and aligning vertically with radar presentation.

If it takes even a Jeanne or Frances type track, I would expect tropical storm force winds in this area. With our tree canopy, that spells lengthy power outages. NWS Tallahassee already has a page dedicated to Dorian now with possible impacts. Right now they are calling for heavy rains starting Sunday or Monday.

FYI, another great way to get water is to use the refill stations at Walmart, Publix, etc. I fill up 5 gallon tanks for drinking water that way, but you can fill up one gallon jugs too. Only costs $0.35 per gallon worst case in Tallahassee. Doesn’t run out like case of water on the shelf.

I've heard of people filling up their bath tubs just in case.

There is a small enough difference between the Euro and GFS (compared to hundreds of miles we normally see) I would say at least at the moment the middle between the two is the best bet. But it's entirely possible the models flip north or south on the next run as the upper air pattern plays out and the models evaluate the steering each time.

Just want to say I wish anyone in the path well wishes. I was in florence last year in NC . We had unbelievable flooding. Out of power for 6 days. I was one of the lucky ones. Several family members and friends lost their homes. My son and his wife being one of them. They just moved in last week with their 7 month old baby. Please prepare be ready for whatever the outcome. Be safe and don't think it can't happen to you. I never thought of no power for 6 days.

Yes. Extremely concerned, for all of the Florida East Coast , not just Jax metro area.

Water is basically free from your tap. You just need some containers and you can fill them yourself.

Yeah...if you're worried about the quality of your water just use a water filter. It saves you so much money.
