I said the other day I feel this period might end up surpassing the 2002-2005 period.

Mad eyewall though at the moment, not surprising there is cat 5 winds there. Pressure also still coming down as well, sub 920 before landfall.

Well done to Hmon, nailed the intensity.

I mean at least it's not a cat 5 'M' storm... again

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

Is it just me, or how the satellite works but I swear I see a faint circle out side the storm as if it created its own bubble.

Haven't got more than 3 hours of sleep at one time for days now and I have to work tonight. If anyone is in Key West, I will be bartending all night at Schooner Wharf.

That sick feeling when I thought this goes sub 900mb before all said and done, just came back to me.

Once a storm hits sub 900mb does it take on any special properties? Has a sub 900mb Storm ever hit the US? Just curious...

there has been a few sub 900mb Atlantic storms (Wilma at 882 comes to mind) but none have made landfall at that intensity

The 1935 Labor Day Hurricane hit the Upper Keys at 892 mb and 185 mph.

Gilbert and Camille were extremely close to the 890s at landfall but I think the Labor Day cane remains the only one. One of the scariest storms of the century.

Absolutely unreal. Where do you get these images from? They are very crisp and love how well everything stands out.

There is still a lot of uncertainty here. That ridge to north is much stronger than anticipated. If there is even a .5 mph faster difference in Dorian speed, it will carry further west.

Lets hope she turns.

Palm Beach County is still taking the storm seriously. EOC went full activation this morning. Fortunately, I am not an essential employee.

What’s an anti-cyclone? First few results in a search mention calm weather.

I’m no pro or anything, but this is definitely not that.

This is from the Orlando Sentinel....

HURRICANE DORIAN NEWS
WEATHER
Hurricane Dorian now Category 5 with 160 mph winds, Orlando back in cone; tropical storm warnings issued for Florida
By RICHARD TRIBOU
ORLANDO SENTINEL
SEP 01, 2019 | 8:11 AM

Hurricane Dorian is now a Category 5 hurricane with 160 mph winds, and still has Florida concerned, according to Fox 35 meteorologists.

Hurricane Dorian on Sunday grew into a Category 5 hurricane with 160 mph winds as it bears down on the Bahamas. The latest path also shifted slightly west so more of Central Florida is in the cone of uncertainty.

As of 8 a.m., the National Hurricane Center issued a hurricane warning from Deerfield Beach up to Sebastian Inlet and a hurricane watch from Deerfield Beach south to Golden Beach.

I read this article online, from the Orlando Sentinel....i don't think that is correct, are yall under any Hurricane Warnings?

That is CRAZY, like watching the inside of a washing machine.

I fear for Jim Edds, his location is going to get a cat-5 eyewall...hope he is in a really secure building.

Josh also...2nd Atlantic cat-5 in 2 years.

The latest HWRF shows Dorian 's eyewall.roughly abou 25 miles.inland , moving up along the I-95 corrodor to a position.just SW of Savannah by.12Z Thursday morming. Jax being hammered.on the souyhrtn edge of thee inner core.

This woulld be absolutely catasttophic fot NE Florida and Southeast GA if this.pans out. An extremely slow moving cyvlone. Rainfall rates are just going to be thtough the roof with this cyclone's slow movement.
