I genuinely fear for his life here, amazingly dangerous situation and it's exceptionally rare for a cat 5 eyewall to make landfall in any basin.

I fear for what destruction we will see after the storm. It's going to be mind blowing and I pray for the people there.

Most models show a dramatic slow down pretty much now...

Winds upto 175mph now I see...

and all models except the Euro continue to show wnw motion.. its clearly has not been doing that.

Yeah I suspect it's going to end up getting further west than expected, as normally happens in these situations.

Also not yet seeing that slow down either.

Luckily they have some of the toughest building codes around but it's still a Cat 5 and not everyone on those islands lives in a fortress.

I am really really worried for the residents and hurricane chasers that stayed in Elbow Cay, is just a strip of Coral Rocks, barely above the sea level

That's the worst thing, the fact it's still racing westwards with no real sign of stopping.

Also means grand Bahamas will likely get a hit from Dorian as a 5.

Going to give Irma a run for the money. Unbelievable.

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

That extreme convective burst on the northern side really has elevated the surface winds to extreme levels.

Didn't think we'd be watching a 5 coming into landfall so soon after Michael!!

Probably because it's September and we're only on the D storm. Lots of latent heat in the basin.

Just woke up to the fact Dorian is a Cat 5 now, and yet did the High pressure strengthened? That's why its going to turn NE? Amazing the invisible forces at play here. Bermuda watch out.
