I may weaken it slightly since it’s moving slowly. Not enough though...

He is in a building with only boards over windows? I thought he was smarter than that.

No, they are too small and too flat.

I'm not a meteorologist, but I did stay at a motel 8.

Vero Beach, FL here. Just got the oddest feeling from last night to today. Another shift of the cone to the west, and its full panic mode here. Lord help us all.

Looks like both planes are going to do a NW-SE pass.

There is barely any land there to stop it. It may slow down it's strengthening but it probably won't do much more unless Dorian stalls.

It's a steady-state top-ended hurricane with an annular appearance in an otherwise high pressure environment preventing it from growing larger in size.
Not annular
[x] symmetrical appearance
[x] relative absence of convection occurring outside the CDO (though the storm may be expanding a bit now)
[x] diurnal pulsation of the cirrus cloud canopy associated with outflow is subdued
[x] less prone to weakening as a result of negative environmental factors (such as that undercutting light westerly shear at ~250mb last night).
[x] maintain peak intensities for extended periods of time
[?] average or larger-than-average eye

...Dorian is a really small hurricane, and its eye might be considered average or larger for a storm of that diameter.

Do not bet the ranch based on any non-official forecasts that may appear in the post above no matter how strongly argued they may be, because the fates are capricious and have Murphy's Law on speed-dial.

Thank you for the speed and direction estimate wxman57. Cannot wait for Dorian to continue slowing down and head out to sea.

Wilma bottomed out at 882 millibars.

Thanks...was too lazy to look it up, was that the lowest for this hemisphere? I remember it was probably a little lower but there wasnt a recon in there at the time

If Dorian is a much larger hurricane, it would be MUCH worse. Dorian is bad enough already at its size

The largest tropical cyclone is Super Typhoon Tip and it had 190 mph winds. Tropical storm force winds extended up to 675 miles!

Think of that hitting a major populated area like Hong Kong, Shanghai, Mumbai, Houston, New Orleans, Miami, New York City, or Tampa. :(

Outstanding structure, I am impressed it's heading sub 910s but clearly should make it before landfall.

Motion still a little north of West but not by much and still trucking along at a decent rate.

Personally I'm not convinced it's going to stall either...

This slow down in forward motion is not good for Abacos - longer duration of extreme conditions.

Elbow Cay about to be in the eye; no doubt cataclysmic impact there

Colors of lost purpose on the canvas of irrelevance

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

Wiping the small town of Elbow Cay off the map right now...You're looking at one of the worst hurricanes to ever hit the Bahamas...It spent all night and morning intensifying before landfall to strong category 5...The Bahamas are getting their Labor Day storm...

This is one of the strongest hurricanes to ever threaten Florida...It is expected to turn north before impacting Florida directly...
